Turn an answer into a date
Ask about a moment when being together felt easy. It might be a long train ride or making dinner rather than a planned celebration. Find the detail he liked: having time, laughing at a mistake, or being away from a screen. Use that detail when you plan your next evening.
Make affection specific
Instead of asking whether you are romantic enough, ask which gesture he would enjoy more often. Offer your own preference too. Keep requests small enough to try: a note before a busy day, a walk after dinner, a call without multitasking. These questions are invitations to show affection, not a test of whether he remembers every anniversary.
